Don't Let Go

Cynthia Williams

Do you have a dream in your heart? A dream to do something, go somewhere, become something (A wife or parent, doctor, or teacher a missionary or pastor?)...

We have been given gifts and talents and dreams. I believe God himself places dreams in our hearts and the ability (the gifts and talents) to fulfill them.

In Jeremiah 29:11 we read that God himself declares "I know the plans I have for you. I have plans for your future. I have plans to prosper you to give you hope. I do not mean you any harm. My plan is not for evil against you. I have plans that I mean for your good."(my paraphrase)

I have found, that as I pursue my God given dreams, situations and circumstance come up that do not lend themselves to helping me to succeed.
There is always something that pulls me in other directions. The floor needs mopping, the laundry is piling up, I need to fix that dish for the potluck...

Now what I need to determine is whether or not that is a case for finding a way to bring balance to my day or if the enemy of my soul (each of us have one) (1Peter 5:8) the devil is working against me to steal, kill and destroy my dream. So, I stop and pray for the Lord to help me keep a good balance in my day, and bind the hindrance of the enemy from working against me. I take a deep breath thank God for his intervention.

Paul tells us, that he is like a runner running a race.( He presses on not giving up, not letting the hurdles keep him from the finish line. He knows there is a great reward waiting for him there. (1 Corinthians9:23-27)

May we like Paul persevere to the end of our race. Let us hold fast to what God has put in our hands and fight the good fight of faith. Let us press on to the finish line and fulfill our God given dreams, our purpose in this life.
