Lesson From My Cat

I love our little adopted cat Sissy, she has added so much joy and laughter to our lives. I think I've learned a little more about communication from her over the past year.

I like to think; I do a pretty good job of living a quiet simple life, and minding my own business. ( I could be wrong you know!) Anyway being a middle child, a peace-maker per say, I try not to rock the boat toooo hard.
Sometimes that really works ;" just refuse to sweat the small stuff."

Sometimes however, we need to make our needs, wants, and desires known.
When we have needs....if others are not aware of them they can't help us when we need their help. We can sometimes expect others to know what we need and rush to help us as if they are mind readers.

We can get ourselves in a bad mindset when we have these unspoken expectations. I have found myself getting angry over a sink full of unwashed dishes. I wash them after dinner then find the sink full again when I get up the next morning. Then begrudgingly wash them before breakfast so I have room to work. That is not the way I want to start my day!I know whatever I do outside of love will not bear good fruit in my life and family.

One day while I was opening the curtains (so Sissy could watch the birds in the yard,) turning on the bathroom light, (so she could find her litter box,) and filling up her food bowl,(she was ready for breakfast,) I realized that she had taught me to listen and watch her communicate about what she needed and wanted, so she could be a happy camper. She goes to the window, bathroom door, and her food bowl then meows to get my attention.  I happily respond to meet her needs.

Now rather than expecting others to meet my expectation whenever I think they should I let them them know when I want something from them. My needs get met and I don't have to face that sink full of dishes in the morning.
