Several months ago, a friend encouraged a group of us to prepare for the future.
I thought about that statement for a time, and realized, I had been waiting patiently for the Lord. I was standing in belief that God has plans for my good to give me hope for the future but I had forgotten about active waiting. Waiting in faith with works is one of the ways we can prepare ourselves for the future God has intended for us.
No! I'm not to old! I believe "every new moment is a new opportunity to live a full abundant life." I started praying that God would show me what I needed to do in order to be prepared for the future he has in store for me.
Then suddenly while I was learning how to use the internet on my phone a link from my library came up. It was a learn4life site with free online classes. I started taking classes and am continuing to learn and move towards the goals that have been hidden in my heart.
It's not to late to reach for the stars to pursue our dreams. "We don't know the number of our days but we can make every day count for something." We can make the most of every opportunity to be all that we created to be.
I like to use the model prayer as Jesus taught his disciples in Matthew 10-13 as a foundation for my daily prayer. If pressed for time I simply thank God for this new day and ask him to guard and guide the steps of my feet, the words of my mouth, and establish the work of my hands by his holy spirit working in and through me in Jesus name.
I encourage us all to continue to pursue our dreams, actively and patiently, knowing that God has prepared the path before us. Remember his plans for us are for our good. Let us never lose the hope for our futures, even in trying circumstances.
As we move forward into this new year remember "God is for us in 2014."
